Cardi B Reveals She ‘Lost So Much Blood’ While Giving Birth to Son: ‘Crazy’
Cardi B said she had a “crazy-a** delivery” for the birth of her son earlier this month, a notion that sounds pretty scary.
After slaying at the opening of the Theirry Mugler exhibit during Paris Fashion Week, Cardi B shed her sequins and feathers for some “Girl Talk,” as she captioned her Instagram Story and spilled some details about welcoming her second child, a boy (whose name is unknown) with husband-rapper Offset. The couple also shares a 3-year-old daughter named Kulture.
In her Stories, Cardi B noted that almost a month after delivery, people have been complimenting her on her postpartum figure, particularly her “amazing hips” and asking whether she had a tummy tuck or liposuction. “You cannot do surgery after you give birth, especially me. I lost so much blood, guys.”
The Grammy winner didn’t reveal additional details of what went wrong during the delivery. According to experts, it’s normal for women to lose one pint of blood during or after delivery “because some blood vessels are opened when the placenta detaches from the uterus,” states Merck Manual. Any amount beyond 2 pints of blood within 24 hours of the birth, notes the website, can be dangerous, among other warning signs.
Top of mind for the rapper, was reassuring fans that her postpartum body isn’t what it seems. Despite what people see in paparazzi photos, she said, her skin is still loose, she has a “pouchy-pouch,” and her hips are wider. “You know I like to be real with you guys,” said Cardi B. “…Child, if I showed y’all my back fat, and my face is still so fat, and my neck.”
She also encouraged other new moms to take it easy on themselves after giving birth. “But f*** it, take your f***ing time, it’s really hard dealing with kids, especially when you do two kids after you give birth,” she said.

Cardi and Offset announced the birth of their son in a sweet Instagram snap featuring the doting parents gazing down at their new baby (with Cardi snuggled up in a Louis Vuitton blanket!). The photo was captioned with the baby’s date of birth (Sept. 4) and dinosaur, heart, and teddy bear emojis.
These gorgeous photos show moms who love their postpartum bodies.
