TOUCHDOWN: A Game Plan to Score Big with Super Bowl® Snacks

Super Bowl Sunday is the second most popular food day in America, just after Thanksgiving. Americans are projected to eat more than 1.45 billion chicken wings this weekend. More than 30% enjoy dip during the big game, and it is expected that 14 billion hamburgers will be consumed.

The plight of farmed animals often isn’t front and center, especially on a fun day like Super Bowl Sunday, but the fact is that 95% of animals raised for food each year in the U.S. suffer in cruel conditions on factory farms.

Luckily, it’s never been easier to sideline factory farmed ingredients and sub in welfare-certified and plant-based alternatives for your favorite Super Bowl snacks. Huddle in—we have tips to help you find these options!

Planning to make Buffalo chicken dip? Look for plant-based chicken substitutions like ‘No Chicken’ Plant Meat from the brand No Evil Foods® or chicken with recommended certifications, like Cooks Venture’s chicken, which is certified by Global Animal Partnership.

Big ol’ plate of nachos? Use a plant-based cheese alternative like So Delicious® Plant-Based Shreds, or Certified Humane® cheese like Raw Farm’s Simply Shredded line of cheddar products. (Kick it up a notch with the jalapeño cheddar!)

Firing up the grill or tailgating? Choose an Animal Welfare Approved option like burger patties from Baldwin Beef, or a colorful, plant-based alternative from Actual Veggies™.

Whipping up some sour cream and onion dip? Choose a plant-based sour cream like Kite Hill® and a Certified Humane mayonnaise like Sir Kensington’s.

Planning to make chicken wings? Clean South’s Vegan Wings can be ordered online or found in select stores, or you can find Global Animal Partnership welfare-certified wings through ButcherBox®

Prepping deviled eggs? Choose Certified Humane eggs from brands like Nellie’s Free Range®, Pete and Gerry’s®, Vital Farms®, or Kipster Farms.
