Jamal passed away back in February of this year aged just 31. Shortly after the news of his death it was announced that he suffered from a heart attack due to a condition known professionally as cardiac arrhythmia. Today, posting an update to her Instagram, Edwards gave more insight into the precise causes of Jamal’s abnormal heart beat condition. The statement read: “Since I last spoke, I have sadly learned that the cause of Jamal’s devastating passing was due to cardiac arrhythmia caused by having taken recreational drugs. Since finding out this news I have been in a state of shock and I’m still trying to process it.” Through her heartbreak, Edwards vowed to help drive the conversation about the dangers of taking recreational drugs and the “devastating consequences” they can cause.
