Logan Paul\u2019s Trainer Says He\u2019d Like His Fighter to Take on Conor McGregor Next
Now that three weeks have past since Logan Paul’s highly-anticipated fight against Floyd Mayweather, the YouTuber-turned-pro-boxer’s trainer, Milton Lacroix, has been reflecting on how his fighter fared.
In an interview with the former Olympic boxer Tony Jeffries, Lacroix said that while he was pleased with Paul’s performance – claiming he won at least three of the eight rounds against Mayweather – he says that his fighter could have done even better if he hadn’t let the occasion get to him.
“If he’d have calmed down during the earlier rounds it would have been a different fight because when you see Logan really fight you’re going to say ‘wow, this kid can really fight,” said Lacroix.
“If only he would have done that to Floyd, and that’s what everybody’s going to be saying, but listen 50 people tried before and 50 people got beat up and a lot of them got knocked the hell out. We didn’t get knocked out, we went the distance, we didn’t get hurt.”
In his interview with Jeffries, Lacroix also spoke about about potential candidates for Paul’s next fight,
On the prospect of Paul fighting Mike Tyson next, Lacroix said: “Only if he leaves me everything in his will.”
However, he was more enthusiastic about Paul taking on one of Mayweather’s former foes: The Notorious, Conor McGregor.
“We wouldn’t mind taking on that guy: Conor McGregor,” said Lacroix. “We wouldn’t mind going a couple of rounds with him. I mean just think about it, Floyd beat him up and knocked him out, so why not fight someone who went the distance in Logan?”
But if a fight with McGregor doesn’t happen, Lacroix wouldn’t mind Paul having a second shot at Mayweather.
“If Floyd wants to do it again believe you me we don’t mind,” he said. “If you feel that you knocked us out and beat us up let’s get back in the ring and start all over again. We’ll go for number two.”
