The essential oil to protect against hair loss while stimulating new hair growth
Hair loss can be a natural part of the ageing process, and most of the time, it’s nothing to worry about. We can even lose up to 100 hairs on our bodies every day, without even noticing. But you could prolong the life of your locks by regularly using rosemary oil, it’s been revealed.
Losing your hair could be caused by a number of different conditions, said the NHS.
Stress, weight loss, or even an iron deficiency can lead to some form of hair loss.
But, there are some home treatments you can use that might help to prevent some types of hair loss, including alopecia.
One of the easiest ways to stimulate hair growth at home is to simply use rosemary oil, it’s been claimed.
Rosemary oil is one of the first natural treatments that people pick off the shelf, according to medical website Healthline.
It helps to stimulate new hair growth, while also being claimed to treat certain types of alopecia.
If you decide to use rosemary oil on your hair, simply combine it with a carrier oil – for example, coconut oil or vegetable oil.
You can then massage the oil directly onto your scalp on a daily basis.

“If you’re trying to regrow hair that you’ve lost or would simply like to improve the hair that you have, try some of these natural remedies,” it said.
“Rosemary is one of the first essential oils people choose to promote hair growth and reduce hair loss. Rosemary oil stimulates new hair growth and can be used to treat androgenetic alopecia.
“Mix a few drops of rosemary oil into a carrier oil and massage it into your hair and scalp before rinsing. Do this a few times per week.
“Add a few drops of rosemary oil into your shampoo and conditioner on a daily basis. Do not use essential oils directly on the skin. Always mix them in a carrier oil or shampoo.”
You could also avoid hair loss by regularly using coconut oil, it’s been claimed.
It contains compounds that protect the hair follicles from protein loss.
People that use coconut oil on their hair appear to have healthier, thicker hair, it added.
All that you need to do is apply the oil directly onto your hair, and massage it into the scalp.
Losing your hair isn’t necessarily something to be worried about.
But on rare occasions, it could be a tell-tale sign of another medical condition.
You should speak to a doctor if you suddenly start losing your hair, or if you develop bald patches.
There are other treatments for hair loss – including transplants – but they aren’t available on the NHS, and you’ll need to pay for them.
