Jenna Ortega’s Mom Calls Her Out for Smoking, Proving Not Even Fame Can Stop Moms From Momming

It doesn’t matter how old you are — or how famous you are. If you do something your mom doesn’t like, she is going to call you out on it. It’s basically a law. Case in point: Jenna Ortega’s mom Natalie Ortega, who took to her Instagram Stories to regale the world (but mostly her daughter) with the dangers and risks of smoking after the Wednesday star was caught on film smoking a cigarette. Yikes!

A video went viral on Twitter recently that captured Jenna smoking. “WTF JENNA SMOKES? NOOO,” one person captioned the video that they re-shared.

Many others commented on the post, which shows Jenna casually smoking a cigarrette and talking to friends outside. “Legit don’t understand why anybody chooses to actively smoke cigarettes after the general social shift away from them, like 20+ years ago,” one person wrote.

Another responded, “As a former smoker, I can tell you. It feels good. You don’t mind the taste. The nicotine hit produce a small short term high. In small doses it works as an appetite suppressant and antidepressant. It’s poison, but it feels good, and saying otherwise is a lie.”

“People when adults do normal legal things?,” someone else wrote.

Look, everyone knows that smoking is bad for you. But Jenna is a 20-year-old adult woman who is fully capable of making her own choices (and reading the warning labels). She doesn’t need the internet to call her out on it, but her mom, well … no one can stop a mom from momming!

  • Her Mom Called Her Out in a Not-So-Subtle Way

Yesterday, Jenna’s mom Natalie took to her Instagram Stories to not-so-subtly call out her daughter.

She shared a series of memes and smoking facts, per Page Six. One was Gollum from The Lord of the Rings, with the words, “Don’t believe those lies about cigarettes being bad for you. I’ve been smoking for most my 21 years and I feel great!”

She also shared screenshots about smoking side effects, like yellow teeth, gum disease, lung cancer, a lingering stench, and more, per Access.

At the end, Natalie shared a typical mom quote: “A mother is always a mother. She never stops worrying about her children, even when they are all grown up and have children of their own.”

And if there is one thing a mother is always going to do, it’s call out their kids if they don’t agree with their choices — famous or not!

  • Jenna Ortega Shares Her Family Isn’t Interested in Fame

Natalie is a “Wife mama nana nurse” according to her Instagram bio. Despite her support of her Jenna, and her other five children, she isn’t one to be influenced by fame.

In an interview with Elle, the You star said, “I have a very supportive family, and they sacrificed a lot for me to do what I do. Another thing that I love about them is they do not care at all what I do. They have no interest in this world and this industry. And I could come home from working with cool people, or prominent people, or people that I respected, and they had no interest. It was, ‘Hey, you missed your day to do the dishes,’ or ‘You didn’t do the dishes before you left. So you’re on dish duty for the rest of the week.’ It was very normal.”

She continued, “And I think the first time I felt like I made it was they asked me about someone that I was working with and I was just so blown away by the fact that they asked me a question about my job. That was really cool for me. I went to bed that night with a smile.”

So the fact that Natalie would so publicly call her daughter out for smoking comes as no suprise. She may be Jenna Ortega to us, but to Natalie, Jenna will always be her little girl. It may be embarrassing for Jenna, but it’s how moms show they care!
