Plant-based diet reduces the effects of congestive heart failure significantly – Naturopathy naturopathy specialist portal

What causes a plant-based diet for heart failure?

A plant-based diet seems to help people with congestive heart failure (heart failure), and better with symptoms and even reduce some of these symptoms significantly.

In an evaluation of different study, it was found that people with heart failure seem to benefit greatly from a plant-based diet. The results were published in the English-language Open-Access medical journal “Cureus”.

Three studies were particularly interesting

For the current investigation, data from studies from the year 2000 to March, were evaluated in the year 2020. The researchers focused on people with heart failure and their risk factors. They analyzed data from people who ate either vegetarian, vegan or plant-based. The research group identified three studies in which plant-based diets as the Intervention were used.

Plant-based diet against heart disease?

Congestive heart failure is associated with the emergence of chronic diseases and premature death. In the past, it has been shown that a plant-based diet can improve the health of people with heart disease. The current analysis suggests that such a diet for people with heart failure can be extremely advantageous, by increasing, for example, the blood flow, which allows data to be active.

Plant-based diet lowered risk factors for heart disease

In one of the studies evaluated a plant-based diet lowered the risk factors for heart disease and improved exercise capacity, according to the research team. After only three months, the plant-based diet, Participants decreased weight, reduced their BMI as well as LDL-cholesterol and have suffered less Angina.

Plant-based diet improved function of the heart

In the second evaluated study, it was found that cardiac function improved in the case of a plant-based diet significantly. In particular, the left ventricle (the blood in the body and the brain is pumping) increased during the 60-day plant-based diet in strength and improved their ability to blood from the heart through the body to pump 35 percent. At the end of the 60 days the so-called ejection fraction of the heart and the physical capacity to normal took. The Participants also experienced a significant reduction in total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL levels.

What resulted in 79 days plant-based diet?

In the third study, it was analyzed whether people with heart failure benefit from a 79-day-long plant-based diet. The affected individuals showed an improvement of the blood flow from the heart to 92 percent, while the enlarged Massse of the heart decreased by 21 percent. The pumping capacity also improved, according to the research group to 62 percent.

Further research is needed

The results of the three study suggest that people should be changed with congestive heart failure may be on a plant-based diet. These results, if only in small samples, can pave the way for further studies with stricter Design to throw more light on the effects of a plant-based diet on heart failure as a clinical Intervention, report the researchers. It took only a few people in the evaluated studies and overview studies are considered less reliable in comparison to clinical studies. But all the evidence suggests that the plant-based diet can lead to dramatic and measurable improvements in heart failure. (as)
